Position: Engineering Manager

Location: Teledyne Impulse-PDM (Alton, UK)

Job Purpose:-

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the application and engineering activity at Impulse-PDM as a senior manager, with significant liaison of these actions within the Teledyne Oil & Gas group.

Key Responsibilities:-

  • The primary responsibility of this position is to manage technical staff and provide technical oversight of the design, development and qualification of products including modifications of existing designs as well as new product development efforts.
  • Manage the design and development process of products/projects utilizing conventional engineering techniques while following accepted engineering practices, and any relevant design practices in accordance with given requirements.
  • Ensure that all new products are qualified in accordance with a documented set of  design requirements
  • Ensure product specifications are accurately reflected in Data Sheets and Functional Design Specifications.
  • Review and approve supporting documentation for designs, including customer specifications and statements of work, assembly and test procedures, engineering drawings and qualification documents utilizing approved standards and best practices.
  • Provide engineering support and leadership to other departments, as required.
  • Regularly interface with customers, sales team and Project Engineers to develop business in new and existing markets.
  • Work with customers to define requirements and establish program/project goals and deliverables.
  • Evaluate specifications, proposals and quotes to ensure technical, cost and schedule requirements are achievable.
  • Manage multiple engineering, drafting and project resources in support of multiple programs/projects to ensure accurate, cost effective and timely completion.
  • Provide leadership for improving efficiencies in engineering, drafting and production including leading Design for Manufacturability (DFM) efforts.
  • Responsibilities include development of PACE (new product development process) team leaders, ensuring consistency in the quality of PACE project content and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive training and continuing education programs for engineering staff ensuring continuous professional growth of direct reports.
  • Provide a supporting role in coordinating efforts between Teledyne Oil & Gas (TOG) companies in the continued efforts of intercompany product development.
  • Ensure and maintain tracking of K-Brief (Knowledge Sharing) creation for all engineering staff.
  • Ensure that all current TOG engineering standards and metrics are being adhered to by staff (e.g. IFS time reporting, weekly status reporting, R&D timesheets etc)
  • Ensure that the Engineering department understand and comply with; UK military and US ITAR regulations, Export procedures, and Non Disclosure Agreements (NDA) requirements. 

Qualifications & Skills:-

  • Engineering Degree or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in managing engineering groups
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAE (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Working knowledge of MSOffice programs (Word, Project, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience in developing subsea interconnection equipment is desired
  • Experience with moulding operations and moulded products strongly desired
  • Demonstrated capability to advance technology initiatives in multiple areas
  • Managed project engineering and/or product development teams

POSITION:    Production Planner

Location: Teledyne Impulse-PDM – Alton, UK              

Job Purpose:-

Will work closely with the Production Manager and Assistant Production Manager to ensure that the production co-ordination system is accurately recording production progress. The role will include identifying problem areas with plans and reporting those to relvant personell to ensure that we are achieving customer deliveries on time.

The Production Planner will report to the Assistant Production Manager and is also responsible for processing of production Sales Orders, control of customer drawings, generation of Works Orders, and reviewing the jobs kitted for production and Sub-Contractors.

Key Responsibilities:-

  • Assist with the monitoring of jobs through production, ensuring that planned progress is on target and achieved, identifying delay and reporting that to the Assistant Production Manager.
  • Will be required to liase with the Kitting, Wiring, Moulding and Stores departments to ensure parts for jobs are made available on time.
  • Responsible for reviewing and organizing production Sales Orders when received, to ensure that the priority order for each job is known and delivery targets are achievable and met.
  • Control of customer drawings, and ensuring that the latest registered issues of these and TI-PDM drawings and sketches are used for production operations. Archiving of completed Works Orders, production information, and returning customer drawings to the appropriate location.
  • Will assist in generation of the Production Forward Load, responsible for updates of the ‘live’ version on the network, and liaise with Sales where required when agreeing delivery dates.
  • To liaise with the Wiring and Sub-Contract Manager, Moulding Manager, and Machine Shop Manager and Q.C. to ensure that priorities are clear, Works Orders and parts to meet the Forward Load are available when required. Will advise the Assistant Production Manager of any problems or delays which could impact the customer delivery dates.
  • Monitoring and procurement of piece-parts required to complete current orders and service future demands, will also liaise with the Purchasing Manager to ensure supplier delivery dates are accurate and advise the Assistant Production Manager of any problems or delays which could impact customer delivery dates.
  • Monitoring job progress through production and advising the Assistant Production Manager or Section Supervisors of any concerns with documentation, material shortages or scheduling.

Qualifications & Experience:-

  • Prior experience in a production environmrent.
  • Knowledge of cable harness manufacture beneficial.

POSITION: Customer Service Assistant

Location: Teledyne Impulse-PDM – Alton, UK

                    

Job Purpose:-

Reporting to the Customer Services Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing a high level of administration support to the Customer Services Team and Sales Office in general.

Key Responsibilities:-

  • Answering incoming telephone calls
  • Shipping and delivery paperwork, scanning files, filing documents
  • Assisting Customer Services Manager on a day-to day basis and provide cover in the sales office
  • Generate quotations, accurate processing of sales orders and liaise with customers as necessary to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Upkeep of database and spreadsheets
  • Proactively deal with all customer enquiries
  • Liaison with all Sales personnel, the Purchasing/ Stores Manager, the Production Scheduler and the QHSE Manager.

Qualifications & Experience:-

  • Previous office/sales administration experience essential
  • Excellent numeracy and written skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Display professionalism and excellent customer care at all times
  • Solid knowledge of MS office and standard B2B sales procedures
  • Competent use of email and internet
  • Experience of MRP / CRM systems would be an advantage
